Anticipate defeat the next election, so do everything now. Forget opinion polls and focus groups; allow citizens to observe genuine commitment. The exclusive approach to restore some respect is to execute clearly what they consider most right and fair.

Labour's duty is to implement required actions to prevent it. Anticipate alliances, remain palatable for allied groups when the name of the party matters less than the fundamental boundary against a political danger unknown in our lifetime.

That's a purpose to defeat discouragement.
