Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the state, bringing wind gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Damage
Residents observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced power outages after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Moist weather were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this week as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
