The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their first championship series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation besides him with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
