Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
