Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.

Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
